Which local forum in Guangzhou is better? Check out these popular options for expats and locals.
Which local forum in Guangzhou is better? This old lady don’t know much about them fancy internet things, but I hear folks talkin’ about these Guangzhou forums all the time. They say it’s where you can find out what’s goin’ on in the city, you know? Where to find the best food, what the best area to live is, and all that stuff. So, which one is the best, huh? That’s what everyone is trying to figure out. I heard many young people, they all move to Guangzhou these days. It is a big city.
Some say Tianhe is the place to be. Lots of big shops there, they say. And a big park, Tianhe Park, they call it. My grandson, he goes to Guangzhou sometimes, he told me all about it. He likes those fancy places. He even mentioned some place called Taikoo Hui, I don’t know what is that, sounds like something only young people go to. They got that underground train, the metro, goes right through there, at Tianhe Park Station and Yuancun Station. Makes it easy to get around, I guess. If you into that kind of transportations.
But then there’s Yuexiu and Liwan. Older parts of town, they say. But the metro goes there too, so it ain’t too hard to get to. My friend’s daughter lives in Yuexiu. Says it’s nice, but old. But if you are a young person, and just start work, maybe live close to your work is better. This way you can save a lot of time. Some people also say Tianhe is the “CBD”, what ever that is, I guess is that where all the money is, and all the businesses are.
And then there’s other places, Haizhu, they say it is also good, and even a place called Chimelong, which I heard is for tourists, and near the airport, Guangzhou Baiyun Airport. Lots of places to stay, that’s for sure. If you’re comin’ to Guangzhou for business or just to look around, you got plenty of choices. There is also a place called Pazhou, where they do some big shows, I think. But I don’t know, it is too much for an old lady like me.
Now, some folks, they come from other countries, they call them “expats,” I think. If they wanna be in the middle of everything, they say Liwan, Yuexiu, or Haizhu are good. But if they want it a little quieter, like the countryside but not too far out, there are other places for them. But if you are looking for best places to live in Guangzhou city center, you can not miss those places.
I heard some young people, they want to learn the language, the Chinese. They go to school for a semester, like half a year. I heard they talk about Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Guangzhou. I guess Guangzhou is one of the good places for them. There are a lot of people and activities there.
But you know what? Some people, they don’t like the trash. They say once you get out of the fancy areas, it gets real dirty. Puddles of dirty water, trash all over the place. That ain’t good. They say it brings in the mosquitoes. I don’t like mosquitoes. Nobody likes mosquitoes. Hope they clean that up.
I hear there’s this thing called InterNations, where these “expats” can meet other people and find out about things in Guangzhou. That is good for them I think. They have events, and have a forum, the Guangzhou Expat Forum, they call it. It helps people get settled and make friends. That’s important when you’re far from home. Otherwise, you will feel lonely.
And then there is Zhujiang New Town, I heard many people say it is good place to live. Sounds fancy. I don’t know what it’s like, but young folks seem to like it. Those who live in Guangzhou, they all like it. They say it’s one of the downtown areas. Lots of things to do there, they say. All the fun things, the good food, and the places to go at night. That’s what the young people want, right? And they can meet the local people, the people who are from Guangzhou. That’s good, too.
So, which forum is best? Hard to say. Depends on what you’re lookin’ for, I guess. But if you ask me, talking to real people is always better than those online things. But these young folks, they like their internet. But there is one thing for sure, there are many “expats” in Guangzhou, they need to know each other, and maybe the forum is a good place for them.
- Tianhe: Lots of shops and a big park.
- Yuexiu & Liwan: Older, but easy to get to.
- Haizhu: Another good place, they say.
- Chimelong: For tourists, near the airport.
- Pazhou: Big shows happen there.
- Zhujiang New Town: Fancy, lots to do.
Well, that’s all I know. Hope it helps you figure out which forum is the best. Just remember, be careful out there, and don’t believe everything you read on the internet. And clean up your trash!
