Guangzhou Water Association includes services: Find out whats offered.

This Guangzhou, you know, it’s a big place. Lots of folks, lots of buildings, just a whole mess of things going on. And water, well, you gotta have water, right? Everybody needs water. This here Guangzhou, they got a Guangzhou Water Association. Sounds fancy, don’t it? But it’s just about the water, how they get it to ya, and all that.

They got this big company, been around since, oh, before I was even a twinkle in my daddy’s eye, 1905, they say! Called Guangzhou Water Supply Co.. They do it all, the whole shebang. They clean the water, they pump it around, they bring water to your house. That’s the main thing they do. They are like the water boss in Guangzhou. Big important company. They are like the king of the water.

Now, folks always ask, can you drink the water right from the tap? Well, I wouldn’t. It ain’t like the water we had back in my day, from the well, all clear and cold. They say they clean it, they say it’s up to some “standard,” but I still ain’t sure. Better safe than sorry, I always say. Boil it, if you gotta drink it.

They got rules and such, this water company. If you’re puttin’ in new pipes, gotta be certain sizes, not too long, not too short, just right, like Goldilocks. Same with the electric, gotta be just so. These are some of the services of the water association.

• Water, they bring the water.
• Pipes, they fix the pipes, I reckon.
• Cleanin’, they do some kind of cleanin’ of the water.

And there’s some other bigwigs, too, in charge of the water, not just the water company. This Guangzhou Water Association, they got a bunch of different folks in on it. They got the Water Affairs Bureau, sounds real official, don’t it? They look after the rivers and lakes, any place with a bunch of water, they’re in charge. Keepin’ an eye on things, makin’ sure the rivers don’t dry up, I suppose. Or maybe makin’ sure they don’t flood, neither. It’s important, you know, keepin’ an eye on the water. Water is important. You gotta have water. Water is life, you know.

And sometimes, they gotta change the price of the water. They say they need more money to keep things runnin’. They call it “reform,” but it just means the water costs more. Everything always costs more, don’t it? They proposed a plan. I don’t know the details, just know that water costs money.

They got all kinds of fancy machines, too, these days. Pumps and filters and who knows what else. They say it’s all “high-tech.” Back in my day, we just had a bucket and a well. Worked just fine, but I guess things are different now. You need to know how to deal with those machines now. I can’t. I just know how to use the tap.

This Guangzhou, it’s a big deal, you know. They even have those big meetings, called the Canton Fair. People come from all over, buyin’ and sellin’. It’s a big to-do. They got cars, they got electronics, they got all kinds of things. But it all needs water, don’t it? Even those fancy cars need water, I bet. The factories need water, that’s for sure.

This city, it used to be called Panyu, a long time ago. Then it got called Guangzhou. Names change, people come and go, but the water, it’s always been there. And this Guangzhou Water Association, they’re the ones keepin’ it flowin’.

There were people from other countries who came to Guangzhou, to see how things were going. People from Kuwait, South Korea, Greece. I don’t know what they do here. Maybe they want to learn something about the water. This city has many things to do. People like to come here. They like to see the city. It’s a big city. The fifth biggest city in China.

They got cars, they make cars here in this city. Guangzhou makes a lot of cars. And electronics, too. Phones, and TVs and such. They even make some stuff that has to do with oil, called petrochemical industry. That’s a big word. Don’t know much about it, just know it’s important, I reckon. This city does many things.

So, this Guangzhou Water Association, it ain’t just about drinkin’ water. It’s about the whole city, how it runs, how it grows. It’s about the factories, the people, the whole kit and caboodle. They do a lot of services, I don’t know all of them. They keep the water runnin’, that’s the important thing. Water, it’s important, you know. You can’t live without water, and you can’t have a big city like Guangzhou without it, neither.
